I’m often asked, “can travel while my naturalization application is pending?” The answer is yes. Keep in mind that once you file your application, you’re going to have to go for your fingerprints. Make sure you are here when they call you in for your fingerprints; otherwise, the application will be delayed. Of course, you want to make sure to return to the United States for your interview. For all intensive purposes, you can travel while your citizenship application is pending. Just remember when you go to the interview, you’re going to have to update your travel dates to make sure you’re still eligible for citizenship. If you have questions about traveling while your citizenship application is pending, please contact my office and I’d be happy to discuss your situation with you.
